V/Adj-(으)ㄹ지도 모르다 [Korean Grammar]

USE:

The pattern "-(으)ㄹ지도 모르다" is used to express possibility or uncertainty.

It implies that you’re not entirely sure but think there’s a chance something might happen or be true.

It is translated as "might," "could," or "maybe" in English. 

It’s commonly used when you want to suggest that something is possible but uncertain.

CONJUGATION RULE:

To use "-(으)ㄹ지도 모르다" you need to conjugate the verb or adjective stem according to the Patchim (Final consonant) rule in Korean:

  • If the verb or adjective stem ends in a Patchim/Consonant, add -을지도 모르다.
  • If the verb or adjective stem ends in a vowel, add -ㄹ지도 모르다.

Examples of Conjugation:

  • 가다 (to go) → 갈지도 모르다 (might go)
  • 예쁘다 (to be pretty) → 예쁠지도 모르다 (might be pretty)
  • 끝나다 (to end) → 끝날지도 모르다 (might end)
  • 춥다 (to be cold) → 추울지도 모르다 (might be cold)

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:


  1. 비가 올지도 몰라요.
    (It might rain.)
    शायद बारिश हो सकती है।

  2. 시험이 어려울지도 몰라요.
    (The test might be difficult.)
    परीक्षा कठिन हो सकती है।

  3. 그가 늦을지도 몰라요.
    (He might be late.)
    वह शायद देर कर सकता है।

  4. 지금 가게 문이 닫았을지도 몰라요.
    (The store might already be closed.)
    दुकान शायद पहले ही बंद हो गई हो।

  5. 그 영화 재미없을지도 몰라요.
    (The movie might not be fun.)
    वह फिल्म मजेदार नहीं हो सकती।

  6. 우산이 필요할지도 몰라요.
    (You might need an umbrella.)
    आपको छाते की जरूरत हो सकती है।

  7. 내일 날씨가 더울지도 몰라요.
    (It might be hot tomorrow.)
    कल मौसम गरम हो सकता है।

  8. 버스가 늦게 올지도 몰라요.
    (The bus might come late.)
    बस शायद देर से आ सकती है।

  9. 그 사람은 한국 사람이 아닐지도 몰라요.
    (That person might not be Korean.)
    वह व्यक्ति शायद कोरियाई नहीं हो सकता।

  10. 회의가 길어질지도 몰라요.
    (The meeting might take longer.)
    मीटिंग शायद लंबी हो सकती है।
