Let's learn how to use Korean grammar "N + 이/가 아니예요" with conjugation rules and some simple real-life examples.

N + 이/가 아니예요 (“is not …”)

USE:

이/가 아니예요 is used to negate a noun.
It means “is not …” or “it’s not …” in English.

아니예요 is the polite negative form of 이다 (to be).

  • 이/가 is the subject marker:

    • Use after a noun ending in a consonant.

    • Use after a noun ending in a vowel.

  • CONJUGATION RULE:

    N + 이/가 아니예요 grammar is used with nouns. The first step of ‘N + 이/가 아니예요' conjugation is to attach 이/가 to the noun based on the batchim ending, Then you add  아니예요 to the noun.

    EXAMPLE SENTENCES:

    1. 저는 학생이 아니예요.
      → I am not a student.
    2. 이 사람은 의사가 아니예요.
      → This person is not a doctor.
    3. 저 사람은 선생님이 아니예요.
      → That person is not a teacher.
    4. 그건 제 책이 아니예요.
      → That is not my book.
