N + 도 … N + 도 (“both … and …”)
USE:
The pattern 도 … 도 is used to list two (or more) things that are both included in the same situation.
It corresponds to “both … and …” in English.
Depending on the sentence ending, it can also mean “neither … nor …” (when used with a negative verb).

"도 … 도" का मतलब है:
“दोनों … और … / ..भी और भी.....”
CONJUGATION RULE:
- Take two nouns.
- Attach 도 to both nouns.
- Place the verb or adjective after both N+도
- Usually the same ver/adjective is repeated with both nouns.
- Usually If the verb is affirmative → “both … and …”
If the verb is negative → “neither … nor …” - 사과도 좋아하고 바나나도 좋아해요 → I like both apples and bananas. (I like apples and I also like bananas)

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:
- 저는 한국어도 공부하고 일본어도 공부해요.
→ I study both Korean and Japanese
- 오늘은 커피도 안 마시고 차도 안 마셨어요.
→ I drank neither coffee nor tea today.
- 동생은 피아노도 잘 치고 기타도 잘 쳐요.
→ My younger sibling plays both piano and guitar well.
- 저는 책 읽는 것도 좋아하고 영화 보는 것도 좋아해요.
→ I like both reading books and watching movies.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- 도…도 is used only for nouns.
- For verbs/adjectives, you must turn them into nouns (using -기, etc.) if you want to use this structure.
- For emphasis, sometimes more than two items can be listed: N1 도, N2 도, N3 도…
도 can also be used after particles like 에, 에서, 에게, 와/과 etc.
Example:
- 방학 때 제주에도 가고 부산에도 갔어요.
- During vacation, I went to Jeju and I also went to Busan.
