Let's learn how to use Korean grammar "V / A+기 때문에" with conjugation rules and some simple real-life examples.

V / A+기 때문에 [Korean Grammar]

USE:

기 때문에 is used to indicate the reason or cause for something.

It is equivalent to "because / since / due to"  in English.

The clause before 기 때문에 states the reason, and the clause after it states the result.

Brief Hindi Explanation -

"기 때문에" का मतलब है:

“क्योंकि / इस वजह से / के कारण”

CONJUGATION RULE:

V / A+기 때문에 grammar is used with verbs and adjestive. The first step of ‘V / A+기 때문에' conjugation is to remove ‘다’ from the basic form of the verb or adjective, Then you add  때문에 to the verb stem or adjective stem.

With nouns however you just add 때문에 -

N + 때문에

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:

  1.  날씨가 좋 기 때문에 우리는 공원에 갔어요.
    Because the weather was good, we went to the park.
  1. 때문에 버스가 늦었어요.
    The bus was late because of the rain.
  1. 피곤하 기 때문에 일찍 잤어요.
    I went to bed early because I was tired.
  1. 시험을 준비하 기 때문에 공부를 많이 하고 있어요.
    I am studying a lot because I am preparing for an exam

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • This pattern is more formal than 아/어서 or (으)니까.
  • Often used in writing, news, reports, and speeches.
  • Not usually used with commands or suggestions.
    • ❌ 춥기 때문에 창문을 여세요. (unnatural)
    • ✅ 추우니까 창문을 여세요.
